Section 301.069 of the Texas Property Code authorizes the state commission responsible for fair housing to accept monetary gifts and grants from both public and private sources. Any funds received through these gifts or grants must be deposited into a dedicated fair housing fund held in the state treasury. Money in that fund is restricted exclusively to the administration of the fair housing chapter and cannot be used for other purposes.

Under Tex. Prop. Code § 301.069, the fair housing commission's administrative capacity—including its ability to investigate complaints and enforce fair housing rules—may be supported by gifts and grants deposited into the state fair housing fund. Property owners and managers operating in Texas should be aware that this funding mechanism helps sustain the commission's ongoing oversight activities. Compliant operators generally maintain fair housing practices knowing that the commission retains a dedicated funding source for its administrative functions.

Tex. Prop. Code § 301.069 establishes a protected fair housing fund that supports the commission's ability to administer fair housing protections in Texas. This means the agency overseeing fair housing complaints has a dedicated, restricted source of funding to carry out its work. Tenants who believe their fair housing rights have been affected may explore filing a complaint with the relevant state commission or contacting a tenant-rights organization to understand available options under this chapter.
