Section 45-25-10.7 establishes the specific composition rules for the Central Falls Housing Authority, which must have five members. One seat is reserved for a public housing resident or Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher participant who is at least 18 years old, appointed by the mayor from a list of at least three nominees provided by the housing authority's executive director. All commission members must be approved by a majority of the Central Falls City Council and must remain city residents throughout their terms; if a member—including the resident member—moves out of qualifying housing or the city, their seat is automatically vacated.

For Property Managers

Under § 45-25-10.7, the Central Falls Housing Authority's governance structure directly affects how housing policy decisions are made in the city. Property owners and managers who interact with the authority should be aware that the board includes a resident voice—someone currently living in public housing or receiving Section 8 assistance—which may shape the authority's priorities and deliberations. Staying informed about the authority's membership and meeting processes can help operators understand the decision-making context for local housing programs.

For Tenants

Section 45-25-10.7 gives Central Falls public housing residents and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher participants a formal seat on the five-member housing authority board, providing a direct channel for resident perspectives in local housing governance. If you live in public housing or receive a voucher in Central Falls and are at least 18, you may be eligible to be nominated for this appointed position through a process coordinated by the housing authority's executive director. Tenants interested in this opportunity or in understanding how the authority operates can reach out to the Central Falls Housing Authority directly or connect with a local tenant-rights organization for more information.
