Plain English

Under ORS § 90.605, a landlord in a manufactured dwelling or floating home facility may designate a representative to receive official notices and demands on the landlord's behalf, and that representative's authority remains in effect until the representative is formally notified that it has ended. If the landlord changes who is authorized to receive notices—or changes that person's address—written notice of the change must be delivered to each tenant's residence, or to an alternative address if the tenant has specified one in writing. This rule ensures tenants always have a current, reliable point of contact for serving legal notices.

For Property Managers

Operators of manufactured dwelling or floating home facilities subject to ORS § 90.605 generally maintain an up-to-date designated representative for receiving notices and demands, and they document any changes to that designation carefully. When the authorized person or their address changes, compliant operators deliver written notice of the update to every tenant's residence—or to any alternative address a tenant has designated in writing. Keeping accurate records of each tenant's preferred delivery address helps ensure that notice of any change reaches the correct location.

For Tenants

ORS § 90.605 gives tenants in manufactured dwelling or floating home facilities the right to know who is currently authorized to receive official notices and demands on the landlord's behalf. If that designated person or their address changes, you are entitled to receive written notice of the update at your residence, or at another address you have specified in writing to the landlord. If you believe proper notice of a change was not delivered as required, tenant-rights organizations or a local legal aid office can help you understand what options may be available, including whether the lack of proper notice affects the validity of any related legal proceedings.
