Okla. Stat. tit. 25, §§ 1451–1453, 1501–1508 § 1502.7
Civil Action for Appropriate Temporary or Preliminary Relief
Operative Text
A. If the Attorney General concludes at any time following the filing of a discriminatory housing complaint that prompt judicial action is necessary to carry out the purposes of Section 1101 et seq. of this title, the Attorney General may commence a civil action for appropriate temporary or preliminary relief pending final disposition of the complaint. B. A temporary restraining order or other order granting preliminary or temporary relief on a discriminatory housing complaint filed under this section is governed by the provisions of Section 1502.1 of this title and the applicable Oklahoma rules of civil procedure.
Oklahoma law under 25 O.S. § 1502.7 authorizes the Attorney General to seek emergency court relief—such as a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction—when a discriminatory housing complaint is pending and swift judicial action is needed to protect the purposes of the state's fair housing statutes. This provision allows courts to intervene before a complaint is fully resolved, preserving the status quo while the underlying discrimination claim works its way through the process. Any such temporary or preliminary order is governed by the procedural rules set out in 25 O.S. § 1502.1 and Oklahoma's civil procedure rules.

Under 25 O.S. § 1502.7, property owners and managers should be aware that a pending discriminatory housing complaint can trigger not just an administrative process but also emergency court action initiated by the Attorney General. Compliant operators generally maintain clear, documented, and consistently applied policies for tenant selection, lease terms, and housing services to reduce the risk that a complaint escalates to the point where judicial intervention is sought. Understanding that temporary court orders can be issued before a complaint is fully adjudicated underscores the importance of addressing fair housing concerns promptly and in good faith.

If you have filed a discriminatory housing complaint, 25 O.S. § 1502.7 provides a mechanism through which the Oklahoma Attorney General—not the tenant directly—may seek emergency court relief to prevent ongoing harm while the complaint is being resolved. This means that in situations where discrimination is causing immediate or continuing injury, the state has tools to act quickly on your behalf without waiting for the full complaint process to conclude. Tenants who believe they are experiencing ongoing housing discrimination may wish to contact the Oklahoma Attorney General's office or a tenant-rights organization to understand what options exist under this provision.
