Under 25 O.S. § 1502.2, Oklahoma's Attorney General is responsible for investigating alleged discriminatory housing practices. Anyone who believes they have experienced such a practice has up to one year from the date the practice occurred or ended to file a written, sworn complaint in the form the Attorney General prescribes. Once a complaint is filed, the Attorney General must notify the complainant that it was received, inform them of applicable time limits and forum options, and serve each named respondent with notice of the alleged practice and a copy of the complaint within 20 days.

Under 25 O.S. § 1502.2, a property owner or manager named as a respondent in a housing discrimination complaint will receive formal written notice from the Attorney General within 20 days of the complaint being filed or their identification as a respondent. That notice will identify the alleged discriminatory practice and outline the respondent's procedural rights and obligations. Operators who maintain clear, consistent, and non-discriminatory housing policies and records are generally better positioned to respond to any such proceedings.
