N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 205-A: § 205-A:8
Purchase of Equipment.
Operative Text
No manufactured housing park owner or operator shall require a resident therein to purchase from any particular person under-skirting, equipment for tying down manufactured housing or any other equipment required by law, local ordinance or regulation of the manufactured housing park. However, the park owner or operator may determine by rule or regulation the style or quality of such equipment to be purchased by the tenant from a vendor of the tenant's choosing.
Under N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 205-A:8, manufactured housing park owners and operators are prohibited from mandating that residents buy skirting, tie-down equipment, or other required equipment from a specific seller. While the park may set standards for the style or quality of such equipment, the choice of vendor is left to the resident. This provision balances the park's interest in maintaining uniform standards with the resident's right to shop freely.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Under § 205-A:8, compliant park owners and operators establish written rules or regulations that specify acceptable styles or quality standards for equipment such as under-skirting and tie-down systems, without directing residents to a particular vendor. Operators generally document these standards clearly in their park rules so residents understand what specifications must be met. Requiring purchase from a specific supplier—whether affiliated with the park or otherwise—falls outside what this provision permits.

Section 205-A:8 gives manufactured housing residents the right to purchase required equipment, including under-skirting and tie-down gear, from any vendor they choose, as long as the equipment meets the park's stated style or quality standards. If a park owner or operator attempts to mandate a specific supplier, that requirement conflicts with this provision. Residents who believe their park is violating § 205-A:8 may consider documenting the demand in writing and reaching out to a tenant-rights organization or the New Hampshire Attorney General's office for general guidance on available options.
