For Property Managers

Under 14 M.R.S. §§ 6047–6050, landowners whose property falls within Maine Land Use Planning Commission territory and who lease land to individuals constructing or occupying buildings for recreational, residential, or qualifying commercial uses are subject to this chapter's provisions. Compliant lessors generally ensure that any lease agreements entered into or renewed after July 25, 2002 conform to the rules established by this chapter. Landowners operating in this jurisdiction typically review whether their agreements meet the statutory definitions of lessor and lessee before finalizing lease terms.
