Indiana Code § 32-30-8-7 governs how notice must be given when a nuisance complaint is filed under this chapter. Service of the complaint must follow the Indiana Rules of Trial Procedure. Additionally, unless the property's owner of record is the one bringing or joining the lawsuit, whoever files the complaint must physically post a copy of it in a visible location on the property within 48 hours of filing.

Under Ind. Code § 32-30-8-7, property owners who are not parties to a nuisance action may find a copy of the complaint posted on their property by the person who initiated the lawsuit. Owners of record who do initiate or join the action as a party are exempt from the posting requirement. Operators who become aware of a posted complaint generally review it promptly to understand the nature of the allegations and the procedural timeline involved.
