For Property Managers

Operators of multiple dwellings subject to Watervliet Code ch. 175 § 175-49 generally conduct routine inspections to confirm that fire alarm systems, sprinkler equipment, standpipe systems, and portable extinguishers are all in proper working order. Compliant operators keep sprinkler valves secured in the open position, ensure sprinkler heads are free of corrosion and paint, verify that standpipe hoses are dry and free of deterioration, and confirm that each oil-burning boiler or furnace has an approved extinguisher or sand pails nearby. Storage practices in the building are managed so that materials do not obstruct the effective discharge of sprinkler water.
