Oneida, N.Y., Code of Ordinances ch. 77 § 77-77
Generally
Operative Text
A. Plumbing systems shall be maintained in sanitary and serviceable condition and installed and maintained in accordance with the plumbing standards of the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. B. Plumbing systems shall be maintained so as not to weaken structural members nor cause damage or deterioration to any part of the building through fixture usage.
Section 77-77 of Oneida's Code of Ordinances requires that all plumbing systems in buildings be kept in a sanitary, working condition and meet the standards set by the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. Beyond basic functionality, the rule also prohibits plumbing systems from being maintained in a way that weakens structural components or causes damage or deterioration to any part of the building through normal fixture use. The provision addresses both the condition of the plumbing itself and its broader impact on the structural integrity of the building.

Under § 77-77 of Oneida's Code of Ordinances, compliant property operators routinely inspect plumbing systems to confirm they remain sanitary, fully functional, and aligned with New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code standards. Responsible operators also monitor whether plumbing fixtures or pipes are contributing to structural weakening, water damage, or deterioration anywhere in the building, and address such issues promptly. Keeping maintenance records and scheduling periodic professional plumbing inspections are practices commonly associated with ongoing compliance with this provision.
