Property owners and managers subject to ch. 77 § 77-67 generally ensure that heating systems are installed, maintained, and tested to meet the 68°F minimum across all habitable spaces, kitchenettes, bathrooms, and toilet rooms throughout the applicable heating season. Compliant operators typically verify that equipment is rated to perform at outdoor temperatures as low as -10°F and that heat is actively supplied in multiple dwellings whenever outside temperatures dip below 55°F between September 1 and June 30. Routine inspections and service records are commonly used to document that heating systems remain capable of meeting these standards throughout the season.
