For Property Managers

Under Glen Cove Code ch. 168 § 168-54, the Building Department Administrator and authorized inspectors are the officials with whom property owners and managers will interact during housing-standards enforcement. Compliant operators generally cooperate with credentialed inspectors presenting official identification and respond to any notices or directives issued through the Administrator's office. Keeping records of inspections and communications with the Building Department is a common practice among operators seeking to demonstrate ongoing compliance.

For Tenants

Glen Cove Code ch. 168 § 168-54 establishes that the Building Department Administrator is the designated enforcement officer for the city's housing standards, meaning tenants who believe a housing violation exists have a recognized official body to contact. Tenants can generally report concerns about housing conditions to the Building Department, which has the authority to dispatch qualified inspectors to investigate. Tenant-rights organizations familiar with Glen Cove's local code can help residents understand what options are available when housing standards may not be met.
