Under § 168-18, operators of multiple dwelling properties in Glen Cove are generally expected to ensure that all exterior pedestrian areas—including driveways, parking spaces, walkways, and entranceways—are illuminated with approved artificial lighting every night. Compliant operators verify that front entranceway fixtures meet the minimum wattage thresholds: one fixture at 50 cumulative watts for narrower frontages, or two fixtures at 100 cumulative watts for frontages exceeding 25 feet. Routine inspections of fixture condition, bulb wattage, and installation safety help operators stay aligned with the requirements of this section.

Section 168-18 of the Glen Cove Code of Ordinances gives tenants of multiple dwellings a basis to expect adequately lit exterior areas, including entranceways, parking areas, and walkways, every night. If exterior lighting appears insufficient or noncompliant with the wattage and fixture standards described in this provision, tenants may consider documenting the conditions and raising the issue with the appropriate Glen Cove municipal or housing code enforcement office. Tenant-rights organizations familiar with local housing codes can help residents understand what options may be available when a property appears to fall short of these lighting standards.
