Glen Cove, N.Y., Code of Ordinances ch. 106 § 106-11
Copy of license and regulations to be displayed
Operative Text
It shall be the duty of the owner, lessee, proprietor or manager obtaining such license to display or post a copy thereof and a copy of this chapter in a conspicuous place within the building affected thereby.
Glen Cove Code of Ordinances ch. 106 § 106-11 requires that whoever holds a rental license for a building must keep a copy of that license and a copy of the full chapter of regulations visibly posted inside the building. The posting must be in a location that is easy for occupants and visitors to see. This rule is designed to ensure that both the existence of the license and the governing regulations are transparent and accessible to anyone in the building.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Under ch. 106 § 106-11, a compliant property owner, lessee, proprietor, or manager typically posts both the rental license and the full text of Chapter 106 in a shared or common area where residents and visitors can readily view them. Operators generally choose high-traffic locations such as entryways, lobbies, or hallways to satisfy the 'conspicuous place' standard. Keeping these documents current and undamaged helps demonstrate ongoing compliance with the posting requirement.

Glen Cove Code of Ordinances ch. 106 § 106-11 gives building occupants a basis to expect that the property's rental license and the Chapter 106 regulations will be visibly posted somewhere inside the building. If those documents are absent or hidden, that absence may itself constitute a violation of the code. Tenants who cannot locate the required postings may consider contacting the Glen Cove city offices to inquire about the building's license status or reaching out to a local tenant-rights organization for guidance on next steps.
