Section 158-14 of Geneva, N.Y., Code of Ordinances ch. 158 establishes the Geneva Human Rights Commission as the central authority responsible for administering the city's fair housing rules. The Commission is empowered to create and update policies, issue regulations, and make recommendations to city agencies in support of fair housing goals. Each year, the Commission must report its activities, outcomes, and enforcement statistics to the City Council, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Geneva's New Horizons Task Force. The provision also clarifies that the Commission retains any additional powers granted to it under Article 29 of New York's Municipal Law.

Under § 158-14 of Geneva's Code of Ordinances ch. 158, the Geneva Human Rights Commission holds the authority to adopt and amend regulations that govern fair housing compliance within the city. Operators who stay current with the Commission's published rules and policies are generally better positioned to meet their obligations under this chapter. Because the Commission reports enforcement data annually to the City Council and HUD, landlords operating in Geneva should be aware that fair housing activity is subject to ongoing institutional oversight.

Section 158-14 of Geneva, N.Y., Code of Ordinances ch. 158 designates the Geneva Human Rights Commission as the body responsible for enforcing the city's fair housing protections and sets out its broad regulatory authority. Tenants who believe their fair housing rights have been affected may look to the Commission as a starting point for understanding available remedies, since it is charged with administering this chapter. Because the Commission reports annually to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Geneva's New Horizons Task Force, tenants also have the option of exploring complaint paths through HUD or connecting with local fair housing organizations for general guidance.
