Plain English — not legal advice.
Under § 475-61, the Bureau of Code Enforcement is the agency that property owners and managers will interact with regarding compliance matters under ch. 475. Operators who maintain properties in conformance with the chapter's requirements generally cooperate with Bureau inspectors and respond to any notices or directives issued through the Bureau Chief or designated representatives. Knowing that the Bureau is the designated authority helps landlords direct questions, permit applications, and compliance communications to the correct office.

Section 475-61 identifies the Bureau of Code Enforcement as the body tenants can contact when they believe a housing condition in their unit may violate ch. 475. Because the Bureau is empowered to designate inspectors, tenants generally have a path to request an inspection or file a complaint directly with that office. Tenant-rights organizations in the Fulton area can also help residents understand how to engage with the Bureau of Code Enforcement under this provision.
