Las Vegas, Nev., Mun. Code § 6.75 (2026) § 6.75.122
Accommodations facilitator—License required (Las Vegas Municipal Code)
Operative Text
(A) No person shall engage in the business of offering a short-term residential rental as an accommodations facilitator without first obtaining and thereafter maintaining a valid unexpired license as an accommodations facilitator pursuant to this Chapter. (B) An accommodations facilitator who brokers, coordinates, makes available or otherwise arranges for the rental of a short-term residential rental within the City is deemed to be engaged in the business of providing transient lodging within the City and to be the person providing the transient lodging. However, the "deemed to be" provisions of the preceding sentence: (1) Are solely for the purposes of imposing, collecting and remitting all taxes on the gross receipts from the rental of transient lodging; and (2) By themselves do not, create, expand or alter any other liability, duty, obligation or responsibility of the accommodations facilitator for, or relating to, the short-term residential rental.
Las Vegas Municipal Code § 6.75.122 establishes that any person or entity acting as an accommodations facilitator—meaning they broker, coordinate, or otherwise arrange short-term residential rentals—must hold a valid city license before operating. The provision also treats such facilitators as the party responsible for collecting and remitting transient lodging taxes on rental revenue. Importantly, this tax-collection designation does not by itself expand or create any other legal liability for the facilitator beyond that specific tax obligation.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Property owners who use a platform or intermediary to list or arrange short-term rentals in Las Vegas should be aware that under § 6.75.122, the accommodations facilitator handling those arrangements is required to carry its own city license. Compliant operators in this space typically verify that any facilitator they work with holds a current, unexpired license as required by this Chapter. Owners should also understand that the facilitator's tax-remittance role under this provision does not automatically shift other legal responsibilities away from the property owner.

Under Las Vegas Municipal Code § 6.75.122, short-term rental guests may find it relevant that the platform or facilitator arranging their stay is legally required to hold a valid city license and is responsible for collecting and remitting transient lodging taxes. If a facilitator appears to be operating without the required license, tenants or guests can look into filing a concern with the City of Las Vegas or consulting a tenant-rights organization familiar with local short-term rental regulations. Knowing this provision exists can be useful context when evaluating the legitimacy of a short-term rental arrangement in Las Vegas.
