Appointments shall be made by the Mayor and shall run for three years each and all terms shall run concurrent with each other. Appointments for vacancies shall run only for the unexpired term. The Mayor may reappoint members as may be deemed appropriate and the Mayor may remove a member at any time. Each member shall serve without pay. Section 21.05.225 of the Lincoln Municipal Code establishes the International Property Maintenance Code Task Force, an advisory body created to assist the Mayor on matters related to residential housing maintenance standards. The Task Force reviews the property maintenance code, recommends changes, and offers interpretations, but holds no independent regulatory or enforcement authority. Members are appointed by the Mayor to concurrent three-year terms, serve without pay, and may be removed or reappointed at the Mayor's discretion.

Under Lincoln Mun. Code § 21.05.225, the Task Force serves as an advisory resource that shapes how residential maintenance standards are interpreted and potentially amended over time. Property owners and managers who follow the International Property Maintenance Code as adopted in Lincoln should be aware that this body may recommend code revisions that could affect compliance obligations going forward. Staying informed about Task Force recommendations and any resulting executive orders or code amendments is a general practice of operators who want to anticipate regulatory changes.

Section 21.05.225 establishes a Task Force that advises the Mayor on the fairness and clarity of Lincoln's residential property maintenance standards, meaning tenants have an indirect stake in its work. If tenants believe that maintenance standards are unclear or inadequate, the existence of this advisory body represents a civic channel through which concerns about the code can be raised, for example by contacting the Mayor's office or attending public meetings. Tenant-rights organizations in Lincoln may also monitor Task Force activity and can be a resource for understanding how code interpretations affect residential housing conditions.
