For Property Managers

Developers subject to Melrose Park § 15.76.020 generally coordinate with the village's director of public works early in the planning process to schedule the required informational meeting well before any declaration is filed. Compliant operators track both the 90-day pre-filing deadline and the 30-day post-tenant-notice window to ensure the meeting falls within the required timeframe. Using this meeting to understand the village's fair housing and condominium development requirements helps operators align their conversion plans with local regulations from the outset.

For Tenants

If you live in a building whose owner has announced plans to convert it to condominiums, § 15.76.020 requires the developer to meet with the Melrose Park director of public works within 30 days of giving you that notice. This meeting is designed to ensure the developer is informed about fair housing protections that may apply to the conversion process. Tenants who believe this procedural requirement has not been followed may contact the Village of Melrose Park directly or reach out to a local tenant-rights organization to understand what options may be available.
