(A) Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. HOTEL. A hotel as defined in Conn. Gen. Stat. § 12-407. LODGING HOUSE. A lodging house as defined in Conn. Gen. Stat. § 12-407. (B) When offering or providing a room that includes sleeping accommodations, no operator of a hotel, motel, lodging house, or similar lodging may offer or provide a financial discount or benefit for such room that is based upon an hourly rate or an occupancy period that is for a term of 12 hours or less. (C) (1) Violations of this section may be enforced by citation, and citations issued for violations of this section may be appealed, in the same manner as is set forth in §§ 150.64 (B) and 150.66 of this code. (2) Any individual appointed as a Citation Hearing Officer under § 150.66 of this code shall be deemed to be appointed a Citation Hearing Officer for purposes of hearing any appeal from the issuance of a citation under this section, unless the Mayor appoints a different individual to serve as a as a Citation Hearing Officer for purposes of hearing any appeal from the issuance of a citation under this section. (D) Any person, corporation, limited liability company, partnership, agent, or other entity, or employee thereof, who willfully violates the provisions of this section shall be fined as set forth in the schedule of fees, charges, penalties, and rewards attached to the annual budget of the city, pursuant to § 41.11 of this code, except that no such penalty shall exceed two hundred fifty dollars per violation.
